There are two basic ways to tune an engine: by the seat of your pants, or by using an engine dynamometer (or just “dyno” for short). If you want to be absolutely sure that your engine is performing at it’s maximum potential and within safety limits, it is necessary to have it tuned on a dyno. At GarageBOSO we use the latest technology coupled with years of professional racing experience and knowhow to get the most out of your engine *SAFELY*. This is very important, because if an engine is not tuned by professionals who understand the capability of your engine, it is likely you will damage your engine and/or cause bodily harm to yourself or others.
Before we can perform any dyno tuning on your car several inspection steps are required to ensure that your vehicle (especially the engine) is mechanically sound. This is a necessary precaution for both your vehicle and the safety of our staff. This pre-dyno check will ensure that you are not wasting any money and will minimize the possibility of issues during the dyno test procedure. This inspection is part of our quality control process and is mandatory for every vehicle we dyno. The following list highlights some of the major items which will be checked during the inspection
- $150.00 ( 4-cylinder/twin-rotor naturally aspirated or forced induction engines)
- $200.00 ( 6,8-cylinder/triple-rotor naturally aspirated or forced induction engines)
Dyno runs are appropriate for people who would like to know how much horsepower/torque your vehicle is generating at the wheels. We perform 3 runs to establish a baseline for horsepower and torque. You will receive a printed copy of the data we log for those 3 runs. This procedure does not tune your vehicle.
- $100.00 for 3 runs on the dyno
Dyno tuning involves a full remapping of the ECU* which will allow the engine to safely generate a desired torque value. We manipulate the ECU controlled spark, injection, and A/F parameters to adjust idle control, throttle response, and cold start control. With our tuning you will have better driveabilty and response better than any shop claiming the same results. Most of cars that come from our shop compete in a Professional Level of Motorsports, we don’t mess around!!!!
It usually takes approximately 8-10 hours to tune professional competition level ECUs. However, for the weekend warrior track cars, typically we can complete the tune within 4-8 hours. This procedure will tune your vehicle, however it is not cheap.
- $200.00 per hour
Currently we are only tuning and servicing the engine management systems listed below. If your engine management system is not listed here then we do not service and tune it. To schedule an appointment for tuning, please email Frank@GarageBOSO.com Thank you.
*NOTE: All ECUs are locked once we have finished tuning the car. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! There is no reason to change any software in the ECU once the car has been tuned.
